i work in an internet cafe and a colleague decided to pose to the boss we create a linux system instead of windoze.
looking to set up 4 monitors, keyboards and mice from usb hub extensions running from the one system.
specs are:
intel Q6600
asus sli mobo
2x 8600 gt 256mb
1x sata HDD
and an IDE dvd-+rw drive
my colleague, keith supplied the boss a list of parts, namely a SATA dvd drive and 8400gt's instead, oh and standard keyboards instead of the mutimedia ones the boss bought instead.
well to cut to the chase the dvd drive throws up install problems for the fedora core. installed latest ubuntu, but having troubles.
curious, has anyone else tried this and come up with any techniques for creating this linux internet cafe?
So you want to create a multiuser system, is that right? If so, it can be done. The articles I have seen use discrete VGA cards for each seat, but you may somehow be able to target the individual ports on the cards. See http://linuxgazette.net/124/smith.html
