Using SpeedFan

Huh? Not sure I follow you there.

The system bios usually controls the speed of cpu heatsink fans. In most bios's it will allow you to set the speeds at the temps you want. Thus, you don't need to use speedfan to control your speeds.

Mine can't... It has control via PWM or Voltage-PWM works but the fan never goes higher than 1700 RPM and it can easily manage 2500 RPM with PWMs off.

That's why I want to use SpeedFan-so I can take advantage of the full RPMs of my fan.

What motherboard and bios are you using?

I am using the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L with BIOS F5.

You can use Gigabyte's EasyTune to change the fan speed at different temperature ranges. It's a really cumbersome programs so I recommend just turning off automatic CPU fan control. It'll run full blast then.

SpeedFan>Configure>Advance Tab>then on drop down menu choose your chipset and then set fans to manually controlled.......Then set % in main screen on Speedfan,
