Suddenly things look a little different. Crossfire now works - and single HD2900 XT actually wins one or two benchmarks now.

Looks like these drivers are doing what they are supposed to do i.e WORK!

Look at those Crossfire benchmarks with the new drivers.

The only thing holding back the 2900XT is the use of AA & AF. I think once they fix those problem the 2900XT will match the 8800 GTX the way it was meant to be. ATI released the 2900XT to early because the drivers from the start were not good.

Ati realeased it to early? cmon stop tell that ATI will match nvidia, im not a damn fanboy me. ATI got more than 6 month to get a GTXin the lab and work on it to get the 2900 more powerfull. stop crying when Nvidia win for the first time in like 4 generation of card ... im tired to see ppl talking about that, the 8800GTX is old generation now and still beat new ATI generation. even if AMD tweak driver and one day the HD2900XTX beat the GTX WOW .. but ppl dont care, cause between XTX and GTX you will have more than 1 years gap .... and in graphic market, each 6 month you got something new.ATI just failed on this one.

Looking on a single card new drivers didn't change anything. Lost Planet's performance on 2900xt is poor compared to 8800gts and World in Conflict is still unplayable. I wouldn't buy a card that performs similar or 1-2fps better in some games compared to 8800gts and in some games it's unplayable. Crossfire is better than it was but still not so good and not many people have money for 2 cards.

Where is 2900xt performing similar to 8800 GTX?

I'll stick with my 8800GTX OC. Thanks.

Exactly, even CF still loses to the 8800 GTS SLI in most games. And the 8800 GTS can generally be found $40-50 cheaper than 2900XT. I don't see them ever being at GTX level regardless of driver improvements.

On the brightside, this does show that some performance can still be squeezed out of 2900XTs with drivers. The game should be more interesting once 2900 pro and 8800 GT are released.

I got the 2900 pro, overclocked it past xt speeds, and now it competes with the gts 640 and it cost a lot less. I am happy with my ati decision.

That's a great deal, and I think the majority of the forum agrees. The problem is when people attempt to compare the HD 2900XT to the 8800GTX; it simply can't compete with the more expensive card when antialiasing and anisotropic filtering is enabled at higher resolutions. I also have to say, hilarious avatar.

Uhh who's crying here? And here I though this was a mature forum for adults. 8800 GTX old generation, whaaaat!?! An old generation is a 7900 GTX or a 7800 GTX, people need to post sober and not drunk. :pfff:
