I am going to get a new graphics card-- my question is should I get the GTX, the 2900PRO or wait for the new cards October/November (I know I can play the waiting game for ever but as the cards are a month away it might be worth the wait -- or will it?)

What do you guys think?

Main driver is I want the extra vram to place the few games that require it. IMO the 8800GTS 320 should carry a warning on it -- (pay the extra £50 cause you MIGHT be disappointed)

Cheers guys

Don't wait because the cards in November are mid-end cards the 8800GT 512MB and ATI will come out with something similar. This holliday season will be a battle for the mid-range cards as they are more mainstream for the average gamer and not the hardcore gamer. I'm getting a 8800 GTX November 1st. Cheers

The HD2900 Pro is good if you want to overclock it. But ATITool doesn't have a totally stable version for it yet, i believe it's still in BETA. Same with ATI Tray Tools. Oh and 3DMark06, you have to delete a .dll file.

Or you can get the GTX and just be problem free right from the get go.

Ill say wait, you will get near the performance of a 8800GTX for about 250 bucks with the 8800GT. The new Radeon RV670 chip will be so fast too for the same price. I mean, you want high end¿? go with an 8800GT SLI or a RV670 Crossfire, you want price/performance efficiency.... go single 8800GT or RV670.

I'd like to buy a 2900 Pro 512mb, but can't find one in stock anywhere. I was going to buy one at newegg yesterday (was in stock in the morning) but by the end of the day it was sold out. Does anyone know where I can buy one?

Thanks.

Im with mayouuuu. I would wait. I doesn't cost any money to wait a few weeks. The new mid range coming out will be more efficient and prolly have better bang for the buck, but no one really knows until the benches come out for both new ati and nvidia .Plus I'm sure prices will come down a little when the new stuff arrives.

It all depends on how much of a hardcore gamer you are. If you're gonna be playing the brand new games coming out in November, get a GTX hands down. If you're really only a casual gamer who doesn't care if your frame rates are 70 fps or 130 fps, wait and see about an 8800GT.

How can you say that two 8800GT's can be near one 8800GTX when two 320MB 8800GTS can not? Also for the price two 8800GT's would cost about the same as one GTX. I've seen the GTX for $499.99 at NewEgg.
