X1950 Pro + Antec 550w PSU + Asus P4C800 Deluxe = Will This Work?

Hey People,

I'm semi-new to upgrading my computer system and I wanted to ask everybody out there if they thought this setup would work before I bought a new x1950 Pro and an Antec PSU to spruce up my gaming experince. I realize that I should be considering going to a PCI-e board, but due to cash constrains I need to make my current rig work.

My current system is a 2.6Gz Processor on an Asus P4C800 Deluxe motherboard.
(Planning on snagging a 3.2Gz Processor in the future)
I'm running with 2Gigs of Kingstons DDR ram.

I'm planning on getting a x1950 Pro 512mb Video Card

And I also realize I need to get a new PSU because my old is a 300w cheap-o-brand.

If this setup will run, I'd really appreacite the conformation or any insight as to how I can keep my computer from exploding.

Thanks,

  1. Antec makes good PSUs and you can always use it in another machine, FSPs are good as well and maybe a little less expensive. If your not planning on using the PSU in another build, 450w should be fine other wise I'd go with 550w. That mobo/CPU was higher end in it's day so if you're strapped for cash, the video card and PSU would make sense
