Okay so this is my first build EVA!

Case:Antec 900 (horrible cable management at first but fixed that ;D)
Board:GA-P35-DS3L
CPU:Q6600 @ 2.4 (9x266) (1.2875v)
Memory:OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
PSU:OCZ 600watt Stealh Extreme
Sound Card:Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
CPU cooler:Artic Freezer Pro 7 with MX2 thermal paste
Case fans:4x120mm 1x200mm
VideoCard:PNY 6800gs

Okay now that i got that out of my system ON TO THE QUESTION!?

Obviously by reading that this is my first build you should kinda figure that I know almost nothing.I'm trying to OC my Q6600 to at least 3.0 and at max 3.4 on air.I've read around and apparently I have to mess with timings on my mobo but I know nothing of timings and so I have come here for wisdom on how to get this thing to be stable.I went to another forum with this same question and they didn't exactly get the point that I know nothing NOTHING of timings with ram and what not.My BIOS has so many different options for RAM it makes my head want to spin.

Hi Kroww,

First of all, you may not have to change anything at all in the way of memory timings, although it may be that you have to "loosen" them a bit while overclocking. The best way of telling is by getting a program such as CPU-Z and checking what your memory timings are currently on. If they are quite tight timings, eg 4 4 4 12 then they may need loosening temporarily during the overclocking to something like 5 5 5 15 or 5 5 5 18.

There are a few guides under the overclocking section of the forum which I would recommend you having a look through before I tell you exactly what needs changing as the quickest way of learning these bits is to find them yourself.

Have a look at what CPU-Z says and get back to us. You should pick up overclocking up quite quickly - I remember being in you position a while ago!

Good luck!

Ok, I have my timings at 5-5-5-15 and the ram multiplier or whatever it is my friend changed to 3.0 and it overclocked fine after that.I have it @ 3.2 and did 4 instances of Prime95 for 24 hours and no errors so thats good and I did super pi mod which was fun considering I had a Pentium D 820 @ 2.8 before this (ewww).I wanna push it to 3.6.I did 3.4 but it wasn't stable and I know I have to mess with the voltage but I'm not sure what to put it at : /.

I forgot to mention that my ram doesn't read properly in CPUZ.It's quite strange really I think I remember reading about it not wanting to acknowledge my ram but whatever.I know what speed it's running at and thats all that matter ;P.That and the bios tells me everything :D

What are your current voltages at the moment. Its hard to say what to bump up if I don't know what they are at currently.
If you could give me your vcore, nb core, sb core etc then I may be able to help.

My vid is 1.2875 but how do I check the other ones?

I'm not sure about the BIOS layout for this board but there should be a whole voltages section. I think you'll definitely need to increase the vcore to run stable. You've done pretty well to get to 3.2ghz with your vcore set at 1.2875. Pump up the FSB a bit and then start adding more vcore while monitoring temps carefully. start with a vcore of 1.29 or 1.3.
