More Information

So I recently built my new quad core system:
q6600 g0
gigabyte x38-DQ6
OCZ PC2-8500 OCZ2N10662GK (1gb x2)
wd raptor 150 & hitatchi 1tb drives
OCZ 850W SLI/PFC OCZ850GXSSLI
7800 gtx (my old/current card, I'm holding out for a post 8800gtx generation card)

installed windows xp x64 (ide mode), got up to 3.6ghz on stock air cooler (not stable tho, I need a better cooler), decided to switch to ahci mode...

did repair install with f6 boot driver disc
random blue screens even with nothing overclocked

did a format and clean install x64 with f6 ahci drivers
random blue screens even with nothing overclocked

switched back to ide mode
no apparent blue screens

Googling around I see a few posts mentioning ich9r and various motherboards with problems after enabling ahci...

So my question/comment is that it seems to becoming a trend with intel ahci mode blue screen crashes?!
Has anyone else had problems with ahci mode?

fwiw, firmware is current, current ahci drivers were downloaded from intel website
