Hello im running a Verizon DSL 5MBPS internet connection into my home. I have a computer connected to a modem that was provided by verizon in my downstairs. I was wondering what i needed to connect a second computer to the internet through a wired connection in my upstairs. Will this modem work http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6825112005 or if you have a better suggestion it would be welcomed.

Yes, it will let you share one Internet connection with multiple computers. Doesn't Verizon rent a modem out to you? You might wanna check with them before buying.

You may want to skip the modem/router combo and buy just a router. It will come in handy if you decide to swap to cable at a later date.
