old recurring problem

Ever since I built my rig a couple of years ago ive always had a annoying problem. Anytime I want to restart my computer or windows updates or anytime I install a new driver I need to restart windows I have a problem. My computer will restart then it will POST then just sits at a black screen. If I just power down and turn it on I never have a problem. My computer has always been stable and no issues in windows

What could the problem be.. Ive searched endless for a sloution and my only conclusion is a buggy mobo

Did you update your MB bios? maybe there was a fix for that.

I cant remember which one I updated to but it was the most recent one a year ago.

hmm....they should have fixed any such problem by then...

Have you entered the bios and made sure that the boot order contains only your hard drive...maybe its blanking trying to read an empty cd drive....its a long shot...but never hurts to make sure it's all clean in the bios...

Well whats the difference with a boot sequence in a restart and a cold boot?

There should be none...but its good to get that out of the way.....

sometimes asus(and other companies) does some funky stuff with there bios's. Fix one thing mess up another...

CDROM drive then HDD no floppy is my boot sequence

try just HDD to see if its any better.....as i say it may be gliching and hanging on CD when there is nothing to boot on....

I wish someone with the same board would show up
