Running Windows XP Pro & IE 6 .Attempting to play DVD`s the following
dialogue box contains the following: Windows Media Player cannot play the
DVD because a compatible decoder is not installed on your computer. How do I
rectify this problem?

You could install/reinstall WMP11.

I would recommend using VLC instead of WMP.

Seems you're way behind on Windows Updates running IE6?, what SP are you running?

I would suggest updating your computer to its securest level through Windows Update, to SP3, and available updates beyond SP3, IE8, MP11, and you'll have what you need to playback a DVD.
