Is it worth downgrading from 2900XT 512 to 8800 GTS 320

I don't think so. If I'm not mistaken in most of the new benchmarks the 2900XT is beating the 640 version. I think AA is still a slight issue but has gotten much better.

I'm sure the the card will also continue to grow as well.

WHY?

well in terms of AA and AF ...i've looked through some benches and the 8800gts , shown to hav a better FPS. Im not 100% sure about it though. This may be a stupid question but i need some opinions

it's okie imo.

I wouldn't bother changing anything. Drivers are getting better for the 2900 and also don't think you'll gain very much if any improvment at that resolution. Based on Toms charts you might only gain 1-5 FPS on average and the charts aren't with the newest drivers. I've guessing stick with what you have.

The 8800 is staying the same, the hd2900 is getting better every month.

I have a 8800 320MB card and would swap if you want -- I am only doing this for your benefit of course.

Ill send you my 8800GTS 640MB and pay shipping both ways  

I think it would be worth it if you like to run a good bit of AA or AF. I'm sure there are a lot of things you could do with $85!

The 8800 performance improves with drivers too, but it just wasn't as F'd up as the HD 2900XT.  

Don't sell the card unless you're REALLY desperate for money right now.

I would take the $85.
Then in 30 days, sell your 8800GTS and buy the new 8800GT.

I believe 7.10 is supposed to help with single card performance in many cases as well. Still waiting to see if someone publishes a driver comparison review though.

I would consider the 640mb for your XT if I were you... Though I prefer ATi.
