I think the inclusion of passive components such as capacitors and inductors was a much greater advancement in IC technology. I am amazed what we are able to do with power supply ICs these days, all because those passive components are included right inside the IC package. The next big advancement will be optical interconnects. This high-k gate doesnt seem all that important to me. What's it gonna get us? 5% overall performance boost? yippie...

HIGH-K hafnium doped gates are the start of less leakage unknown where it will lead?
