OK, I get it. "ForceWare" is a marketing name used to bundle lots of different features and software into a single logical marketable entity.

So I'm looking at NVIDIA's web site and I see four different entities in "The ForceWare Family".
http://www.nvidia.com/page/software.html

ForceWare for NVIDIA GeForce GPUs
ForceWare for NVIDIA Quadro Graphics Boards
ForceWare for NVIDIA GeForce Go GPUs
ForceWare for NVIDIA nForce MCPs

I looked through each one, but I'm still confused. For example, under the first category (NVIDIA GeForce GPUs), I see a feature called nView Multi-Display Technology. Hmmm... awesome feature that peaks my interest. I see a section called "Where to get it" and it theres a link. But the link says "Quadro Current NVIDIA Driver". But I don't have a Quadro card... I'm not even under the "Quadro Card" section.

Also, there's a section called ForceWare for NVIDIA nForce MCPs. But nowhere does it tell me what MCP stands for? The only two features that seem to be here that are not in the other sections are NVIDIA MediaShield Storage, NVIDIA nTune Performance Optimizer.

MediaShield seems to be related to RAID 5, but what the heck is it? Is it a software implementation of RAID 5? Do I need a RAID 5 controller to use it? Do I need a special NVIDIA mother board?

nTune seems to be a software application that allows me to tweek the settings on an NVIDIA mother board for overclocking and the like.

Am I missing anything? Can anybody add some information to help me understand all this?

The nView software should come with the drivers to match your particular video card, which of course has to be a GeForce. nForce drivers are for Nvidia motherboards, GeForce Go drivers are for laptops, and Quadro drivers are for the Quadro model video cards. If you are looking for drivers on their site - start with your product's model # and go from there.

In this case I think MCP stands for Media and Communications Processor actually. (aka southbridge)

MCP in this case is "Media and Communications Processor". Its the chipset of an nforce based board
