Greetings,

I'm currently trying to build a gaming computer, and just about ready to order!. I have every thing I need (at least I think :) ) except for the mobo and case and PSU.

Please give some recommendations all you experts! Thank you a lot in advance. For the mother board, I don't need SLI nor RAID, so I'm guessing p35 chipset is best? Any particular boards you guys view with high esteem?

Also please don't forget to recommend a decent case and PSU!

I'm going to buy the following, please tell me if I should change my choice

E6750

Good upgradability, overclocking, gaming. Budget of around 100-200 for MOBO and around 50-150 for case. Also any PSU recommendations or harddrive?

Thanks in advance

Anyone have recommendations for MOBO/case? I was looking at the gigabytes mobos.

how much "better" are the HIGHLY DURABLE + COOl boards. Is that $160 board better than the $90 for mysetup?

the one i suggested is fine the $160 one you are talking about im guessing is the GA-P35-DS3P has another PCI-e16x slot, better audio onboard, more USB, more SATA and RAID. It also supposedly uses better components, ie capacitors. However for what you need assuming that no SLI also means no Xfire then the DS3L would be perfect. The extra money could be spend on a 8800GT when they come out "on monday"

Ok you want good upgradablility, and good overclockablity, so I would recomend a EVGA nForce 680i SE SLI. Now I know you said you didnt want SLI, but if your building a gaming rig, eventually you will want it. It also saves you having to get a board that supports it when you want to upgrade to dual GFX cards. It may be EVGA, but it is probably one of the best mobos around and for the price you can't beat it at $150. Read up on it at the link below.

That board is also perfect for a Core 2 Duo. So your current choice for CPU is perfect. Cases are really a choice in preference, but a good one with air flow and plenty of space for those massive 8800GT cards would be a Ultra Black Aluminus ATX Full-Tower Case.

I dont want to be a PSU recommender, because I am not too well versed with them, however anything from Antec is generally a good choice.

I hope this help you some.

I have to disagree here about the 680i mobo. If the OP can only afford an x1950Pro I doubt he will be able to afford two 8800 GTX cards and a 30" monitor soon, so why does he need SLI.

I think a case budget of $150 and an x1950 Pro are a horrible combo. No offense, man, but for that money you can get a $50 case and an 8800 GT that will kick the behind of the x1950 pro.

Try this:
E6750, GA-P35-DS3R (GA-P35-DS3L if money is very limited), Centurion 5 case, 8800 GT,
GameXStream 600W or Corsair 520HX (or 620HX), WD5000AAKS, Ballistix DDR2-800 (2GB for $55 after rebate)

If you still have $100 left after all this make the CPU a Q6600 instead of E6750.

To be honest, there isnt really 'A' gaming motherboard out there.

Budget > Mid-range > High-end

And all the High-end boards are give-or-take 2fps of each other in games anyways.

Although prove me wrong :)
