You better change that MB cause the one you picked is a socket AM2 which is not compatible with C2D you will need a Socket 775 board. Get like GA-P35-DS3R or something.

But everything else looks alright.

The PSU will fit. Good choices. With the GTX you will probably not need SLi unless you are going to a 30" monitor or something. For non SLi, a P35 board would be a better choice.

The SLi should fit fine in that case, however, it will get a bit toasty in there. Should save you on your winter heating bills. :)

That board will do you just fine, Are you going to use SLI though? If not then there is no need for it. Why exactly are you going for SLI?

Its just a waste of money going SLI especially with the 8800 GTX since its already a powerful card already and can play anything you throw at it.

The differences between the boards are features. More features = more cost. Some have raid some don't, some do DDR3 some don't. The very popular middle of the road board is the DS3R. I should do nicely for you.

The Seagate 7200.10 320gb is the best HD choice in your range. Also very popular.

The 600w is also a good choice.

A good quality 19" is a NEC ASLCD193WXM-BK. If that is not available, the Samsung 940BX would be a good second choice. Both have 1000:1 contrast, and very fast response times.

Firewire is like a faster version of USB. It's main use is connecting things like digital cameras and external hard drives.

Any of the Samsung will do. The best way to select a monitor is to go somewhere where you can see them in person. Once you pick a quality brand, the one your eyes likes best is the one you buy. You can still buy it on line of course.

If I were you I would stick with Windows XP for little longer, but if you really want to get Vista then one is yes 64-bit and the other is 32-bit. I would probably go for the 32-bit version myself.

Vista is still not ready IMO, and 64bit anything is still hit or miss. XP 32 bit will run like a demon on that machine, and give you a better chance at first boot.

All of the new games coming out that I have heard of still support DX9. Many are DX9 with DX10 "enhancements". Supposedly Crysis will be true DX10, but will also run in DX9. At the rate they are going, I would not worry about DX10 for another year at least.

Personally, I only play FPS games, and I am too busy trying to keep my butt from getting blown off to notice fancy graphical effects.
