Looking to build a new machine was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or recommendations

Budget around $1,000 (after rebates lower if possible))

I'm not sure If i wanna go Crossfire or SLI To be honest. I hear a lot of about SLi and very little about X fire
any help/suggestions and recs will be greatly appreciated.

I was on a Forum (gaming) and someone made a good point to me (well seems like one) said i should just get a
good graphics card like a 8800gts rather than relying on 2 cards xfire/sli

The links don't work because they're exactly as they appear in here, including the "...".

Please fix your links if you want anyone to reply. It would also help if you specified what each item is instead of just posting the links.

One more vote for that. I'm happy to help, but I'm a cheapo on dialup and my time is better spent in other threads where I don't have to load 10 pages first.

I would go with this GPU, if you can. It's only $337 shipped and you can OC it to the big brother speeds and not have to pay the difference.
GPU - $337 shipped – Cheapest 1gig Video Card right now. OC for 2900xt speeds!
SAPPHIRE 100214SR Radeon HD 2900PRO 1GB 512-bit GDDR4 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card – Retail

Case to consider for $50
COOLER MASTER RC-532-SKN1 Centurion 532 Mid Tower Case Retail ***Free Shipping***

Mobo's, Pick which one you want.
DS3L has no RAID support, but is $30 less than DS3R. OC's well and good for mid to budget builds.
DS3R has RAID support and has more SATA connections than the DS3L. Good overall mobo for about $137 shipped

CPU e6550 minimum if you want to save the $100 from the q6600, or just get the q6600, because it'll probably do more for you later when games/programs take advantage of more than just 2 cores.

PSU - Cheapest one you can find with the quality that you want.
PSU - $100 shipped - $45 MIR = $55!! can’t beat for this price
Antec NeoPower NeoHE 550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, TUV, CE, FCC, CCC, CB, C-tick – Retail

So that is what I'm recommending. The case can still be worked out, but Newegg doesn't always have good deals. Check out how much the shipping is, before you buy. Zipzoomfly ships most everything free, so double check the two sites (and others) before buying.

My $0.02

Drop the Q6600 and go with the E6750. That should get you under budget.
Unless you intend to overclock, the stock CPU Cooler should be fine (regardless of which CPU you get). Nice to have, yes, but if budget is limited, drop it.
Not familiar with that Power Supply, so I can't rate it. Somewhere around here is a PSU Guide. Take a look around for it.
Video card is a good choice if you're not running resolutions at or above 1600x1200. With newer games coming out, you may want to consider the 8800GTS-640 anyway. Another interesting option is the just released ATI HD 2900 Pro.

Well, we don't have enough prove of that yet... The only review I have seen is here:http://pclab.pl/art28806-3.html, and the 8800GTS (320) wins in every benchmark except 3dmark and S.T.A.L.K.E.R... The 640 wins in every single one, except 3dMark.

I really appreciate everyones help.

Anyone else?

Are their any sites (like newegg and ZipZoom) that will do price matching?
