what is the range of a good running cpu temp? Mines is a C2D Q6600 CPU and it is running around 46 to 50F on all cores. Is this ok and if I lowered the temp with other cooling methods would I benefit speed wise? Not speed but Processing info wise?

The 1600-2400 Mhz thing is called SpeedStep. The processor lowers the multiplier when it's idling.

Regarding temps, there were a nice sticky in this forum explaining a lot about Core temps. It's not a sticky anymore, but you can search it. I'm sure it will have some answers.

Ok, thanks a bunch. Will I get better performance if I lower the temps though? Not OC'ing at all but just lowering temps.

I don't know. 50 F looks fine to me. If you don't OC you shouldn't be worried about lowering that. You won't get better performance even if you manage to get it to 30 F.

Hope it helps!
