1600 MHz FSB, 3.6 GHz Q6600, DDR2-800 4-4-4-12.
8800 GTS 512 MB with reference clocks... I'll be working on OCing it on the stock cooler and will later get an HR-03GT for it. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Nice.
On my 3.15GHz Q6600 and a heavily OC'ed 8800GTS 320mb (675/1605/1050), I get around 13500. My cpu gets a good 600+ points lower than yours, so the 8800GTS 512mb is as good as the reviews says it is.

Now it's time for some FUN!
Had to add support for the GPU in Rivatuner, but it works fine now... CFG Editing ftw... Anyways.
Testing: GT1/HDR1 3DMark06 Tests.
Max GPU Temp w/ Regular Fan Speed: 83C
Max GPU Temp w/ 100% Fan Speed: 48C
All I can say is ....wow. Going to have some OCing fun and find some quick maxes.
I can't wait. You're gonna OC the shader clock and core clock individually right? Oh well, I'll find out soon enough.

Linked until I get artifacts, then back them off til I find which one sucks.
Stock was 670/1674/972
Up to 820/2048/972.....
UPS are such retards. They accidentally left my 8800 GTS at the last station and its delayed till tomorrow... It was supposed to come today and I would have been the one posing my OCing results right now... F*** you UPS!
820/2048/1056 - 52C Max GPU Stock Cooler.
@cnumartyr
Holy $hit! 820?! 2048?! Jesus...
@wire
Least they're cheaper than FedEX.
FINALLY Got it to artifact....
Crashed at 1166 MHz Memory... Had 1149 MHz Memory working for a test, going to run it for a full test to make sure it doesn't artifact. 1154 MHz Memory also crashed.. looks like 1149 MHz is my maximum there.
Edit: I'll be gone for an hour or so in a bit, going to push it til then... after that I'll get back on things tonight.
The G92 is really something.
I wouldn't be surprised if it can it 17500.
Yea I didnt mean what I said about UPS haha... Sh*T happens... I was just all exited that cnumartyr and I where going to get our cards on the same day.
I really can't wait to work on mine = )
"Settled" on 820/2052/1107 on stock cooler...
Going to play some Crysis on it tonight for a while to see how it does.. When loading games with anything over 1115 MHz Memory it would crash. Anything over 848 MHz core would cause artifacts.
Do you use 3dmark to test for artifacts? Or ATI tools?
I recommend using ATI tools because if it doesn't artifact using that program, it won't artifact anywhere.
| Evilonigiri wrote : Do you use 3dmark to test for artifacts? Or ATI tools?

I normally use a 3D Mark 06 test, then when I think it's ok, run a full 3D Mark 06 and check.
I used to do that too, running 3dmark on loop for couple hours to make sure there isn't a single artifact due to heat or anything. However when I got Cod4, I noticed artifact that wasn't present in 3dmark06.
Checked it with ATI tools and the whole 3d window immediately filled with yellow dots.

Same thing just happened to me at 820... Oh well. It'll be fun for benching... how long did you let ATi Tool run for before you switched to a game?
At least a min. Usually there's no more point than that, unless you want to check for overheating.
Evilonigiri wrote : At least a min. Usually there's no more point than that, unless you want to check for overheating.
Well I figured for 24/7 usage I'd go with 2 minutes. For benching I'm only going 15-20 seconds.. Finished up the OC via ATiTool for my 24/7 usage, 3D Marking it now and I'll post up the results in a bit, looking at temps. Fan is a touch loud at full speed so I'd like to drop it down some... aiming for about 70C fully loaded. Still much less than the reference heat.
811/1890/1107
Shaders were holding the GPU back a bit when they were linked. Peaked at 53C during 3DMark06 with stock cooler at 100%.
Crazy good, I'm impressed. FYI, you can have a little artifact in ATI tools. If you only have a little, it won't appear in games.
That is a damn good overclock, my 8800 GT (stock 600/1500/900) only reaches 735/1814/985. Core artifacts at 745, shader at 1830, mem crashes anything above 1000. 8800 GTS is much better.. damn. With my Q6600 at 3.6 i get 14,547 3dmarks with the oc on the gpu.
Thinking about going to microcenter, getting a GTS G92 put the cooler on my GT and try to bring it back
Checked the BIOS. 100C is the Critical GPU temp... Keeping it below 80C is going to be my goal. GPU Core is at 1.15v at stock... hopefully it'll be up around 1.2v later this week.
You did a volt mod?
Evilonigiri wrote : You did a volt mod?
Will be, got an edited BIOS ready to go.. I just need to make a boot disk.
I thought you couldn't edit the bios anymore. Did Nvidia remove the lock or is there some other way?
Evilonigiri wrote : I thought you couldn't edit the bios anymore. Did Nvidia remove the lock or is there some other way?
If there's a lock I haven't run into it yet. Ran NiBiTor v3.7 and got the BIOS file off of it, edited the max voltage form 1.15 to 1.2v. Talked to a few people with 8800 GTs and they used 1.2v.
If there is a lock within nvFlash or that I will run into while trying to update it, I'll let you know.
Edit: I've seen some more and seen some yes's and no's.. Looks like we'll have to find out!
hows crysis run? fps? high vs medium? aa? resolution?
samgix6 wrote : hows crysis run? fps? high vs medium? aa? resolution?
16x10 all high no AA 35-40 FPS.
That's a little dissapointing honestly
With the 6750@3.6 and 8800 GT @ 675 16x10 all high, no AA I get 28-34. I suppose those extra frames make a world of difference though to make it just that much smoother. Nice overclock cnu
Yep you can change the stock 1.1v of the 8800GT to 1.15v and the same with 8800GTS except tis stock is 1.15 and can go to 1.2v.
Attaching a nice cooler like HR03 to it would be good cooling the memory chips and mosfets a bit better would give a bit higher max overclock. Maybe can get a bit higher with a BIOS flash.
Oh so you can change the voltages now. The 8800GTS 320MB/640MB have locked bios right?
Evilonigiri wrote : Oh so you can change the voltages now. The 8800GTS 320MB/640MB have locked bios right?
I looked into it a bit more and the problem isn't a locked BIOS. It seems to actually be a problem with the card reading VIDs. 03 = 1.15. No matter what you set it in the BIOS, it sees an 03 VID as 1.15.
Oh, I see. So this effectively makes the VID unchangeable.
Guess they got rid of this on the G92.
nice overclocking i only mangaged 770 core 1925 shader clocks but i have manage to get my memory up to 1100 (2200 effective) what do you do to increase voltage ? im pretty keen to get higher
Does overclocking the video card void warranty/stepup? More importantly, is there any way for them to find out that you've OCed it?
JJBlanche wrote : Does overclocking the video card void warranty/stepup? More importantly, is there any way for them to find out that you've OCed it?
I'm sure it voids everything. As far as I remember though there isn't a way to check if it's been OC'd.
I've gotten warranty service on a 6800 GT that I replaced the sink on and OC'd. I put the stock sink back on and got it warrantied.
This is ONE reason I don't like BIOS level OCing. If it breaks and you can't flash the BIOS then it's pretty easy to figure out if they check the BIOS. I just use Rivatuner.
Found this old thread while looking up other's results OC'ing an 8800GTS (G92). I just installed a new one Tuesday night. Fiddling with it tonight. Using nVidia's Control Panel and monitoring for artifacts and temps with ATI Tool 0.27b here's what I've accomplished.
GPU Core: 800 (stock 650)
Memory: 1120 (stock 972)
Shader: 1965 (stock 1600?)
So far no artifacts in ATI Tool for 7+ minutes.
Seriously though, with a stock Core of 650, can this thing really be running at 800 without issue? lol holy crap...
I'm at 61c with stock fan at 75%.
