new install, system freezes up!

purchased core 2 duo 6850 and asus p5k motherboard with corsair dominator ddr2 and 8800 gtx. while formating hard drives, the system froze up. i have 650 watts for power supply. i am running XP. it froze on 2 different sata hard drives. finally, one got done and was able to install xp but the other one froze again. hard drives are not 2 years old! anyone have a clew on why system freezes?

just wanted to mention that it is during the installation of xp that now my other hard drive freezes up.

Have you set the memory voltage in BIOS to Mfg. specs? PC6400 4 CAS LAT is generally 2.0-2.1V.

Bad or dirty install disk especially if it freezes the same place.
