Hey all, I believe I have my build in order and I am ready to checkout at newegg. I only have a couple of questions for you. First, my (first!) build...

Case - Antec 900 Black Steel Mid Tower -
CPU - Q6600
GPU - EVGA 8800GTS 320MB
PSU - Antec True Power Trio TP3-550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply
MEM - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
MOB - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX
HD - SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s

= approx $1140.00 (I have monitor, xp, keyboard/mouse, speakers, etc)

Anyhow, my questions are...

Do I need to order any cords or cables?
Do I need to order a network card? I currently have cable internet (modem/cords provided)
If I order a Sata DVD-RW drive and it says it's OEM, do I need to order extra cables?
Will this build need any cooling apparatus? It'll mainly be used for gaming, watching film/tv, and music.

OK, thanks for reading and any and all help.

also, this is DVD drive i'm looking at.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151153
i imagine i'll only need on drive to get up and running..

1. No, you shouldn't.

2. Only if you need wireless.

3. No, your motherboard comes with four of them.

4. I would recommend an after market cooler for the CPU. Ask someone else for a good one.

5. That's fine.

Additionally, you might consider an HD2900 PRO instead of the 8800GTS 320MB. Wait for more responses before making a decision, though.

I would change the PSU to either an Antec NeoHE (500 or 550) or a Corsair 520HX, all 3 units have a higher output on the combined 12V rails than the Antec TruePower Trio 550, not to mention that the units I mentioned above are made with better quality parts.

To answer your questions,

1.) Unless you are ordering an open box motherboard you won't need any other cables.
2.) The onboard lan is way more than enough
3.) the motherboard should bring more than enough cables for 2 or 3 drives.
4.) Unless you are OC'ing, no you will be fine with stock cooling.

@AdamJ

I think that might be a Fanboi comment.

Excellent choices stick with what you got you wont be disappointed. I dont really like Samsung HDD's i would have gone with Seagate or WD but personal opinion again.

Nope. Im getting to the point where technology is pissing me off. nVidia is really dumb. They make a 320mb and 640mb version. Im not too sure, but wtf were they thinking when they did that? Their drivers arent that great either. Ive been with nvidia for a pretty long time. mx 440 or w/e was the first ive had from them and then kept going with nvidia. Loved my 5950 Ultra. Just seems like they dont know what they are doing anymore.

Oh yea, and like I said, the 2900Pro will be better than the GTS

Heh, thanks for all the advice, everyone. The main reason I've been planning on the GTS, is the chance of using the step up program in a couple months. I've gone back and forth with the gtx, but if it doesn't pan out for me w/ the step up, I'll upgrade next summer or so, with something "of the times".

I'll take a look at the other PSUs, as well as different HDs(may grab two, anyways).

But, I appreciate all comments. Thanks all for the help.

Antec 550w Earthwatts link:
PSU - $100 shipped - $45 MIR = $55!! can’t beat for this price

PSU- $100 shipped - $10 MIR = $90, don't buy at newegg, too expensive.
Corsair 520W SLI Certified Modular ATX Power Supply - CMPSU-520HX

2900 pro link for some comparisons to 8800 gts 320mb. You can decide on your own, which one bests suits you. Check out the whole review and make an informed decision. I would probably get the 2900pro 1gig version myself, but that is just me. The 1gig model should be in between the 2900xt and the 2900 pro 512mb models in the review (one would think).

The rest of the build looks good, just look at the other PSU's listed. You won't be sorry if you get any of them, since they are good quality PSU at a decent price.

It will anywhere from $100 to 150 more expensive to step up from a GTS to a GTX than to buy a GTX right off the bat (Step up will cost you maybe $320 to 350, Buying GTX will cost you $220 more).
