Hey guys,

Sorry to do this to you all but can you please help me choose the right motherboard?

I am looking to build a budget gaming system:

Currently I am mlhm5's recommendation's:

PSU:

CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX - $83.9 + $20MIR - ZipZoomFly
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Prod [...] e=10006757

Motherboard:

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA775 Intel - $98.99 - ClubIT
http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=CA4830813
or ABIT IP35 which is $89.95 at MWave + $20MIR
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusear [...] ia=BA23929

Memory:

OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-800 - $79.99 - $44.99 after MIR - ClubIT
http://clubit.com/product_detail.c [...] 8301&nav=3

CPU:

Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 - $77.99 - easy OC (yeah I know you said no, but it is so easy to OC to 3.0GHz which is really speedy eliminating the need to purchase a more expensive CPU)
http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A1938427 ClubIT

HDD:

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3GB - $110.99 - ClubIT
http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=CA3476919

DVD Burner:

Samsung 20X SATA DVDRW - $29.99 - NewEgg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6827151153

Video Card:

MSI GeForce 8600GT OC 256MB 128bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video - $109.99 - $89.99 after MIR
http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A9654018

I have a case:

so the total would be 588.85 - 75MIR = 513.85

that considers this MB: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA775 Intel, is there another or better choice for the money, especially considering the OC plan? Also, what would you do to go above and beyond stock cooling?

Thank you very much for your help in advance,

Dave

I'd go for the abit board and try the stock heatsink. It might be ok. I use zalman fan mate II rpm adjusters (about $7) and turn the rpm setting to about 3000. I hate noise.

Personally, I would go for IP35-E since it overclocks about the same as some other P35 boards. Sure the flagship boards will beat it out, but for how much more & by how many mhz? Especially if I were on a tight budget.
