Ive been looking around to buy two LCD monitors for use in a dual-monitor setup and I'm hoping to buy two with thing edges on the left/right sides to line them up as close as possible. Or just a thin edge all around, either way. But i cant find any at all =S Or are two normal LCD's fine to line up and play games across both screens for FPS's?
Why would you want to put 2 LCDs together?... It would drive me crazy to play a first person shooter and have a big ass line going down the middle of my screen. Why not just just get a bigger monitor?
I could maybe see having a dual monitor set up and have different things running on them. Have one application running on one screen and another application running on another screen.
Also I dont know of any game that supports a 2 monitor setup like the way you were describing. I think some games allow you to run the initial game on one screen and maybe stats on the other screen but I'm not a big gamer so I wouldnt know. Also having a viewing space that large on a FPS would probably give you an unfair advantage over other players. Games like BF2 doesnt even support 16:10 because of this reason so I would assume most FPS games do not support multi monitor setups.
Hope that helps... but maybe someone else can provide better insight.

Not many games support dual monitors, as the previous poster stated. The only game I know of that supports more than one monitor would be FSX, although I've never really looked into it.
go for broke and get 3.. center monitor is the main, and would give you an unobstructed targeting reticle, side monitors would be to widen your field of view, so you can see stuff earlier!
You would probably have to run dual 8800GTX's or HD2900's for it to be smooth during games. Doesn't the max res of each monitor get capped at a certain level though?
Matrox's last serious foray into 3D was with a triple monitor card (single card not dual), so it can be done if the game support the increased FOV. The real problem comes with trying to render that many pixels and maintain a playable framerate. I personally think three monitors would be too much even if you did have the graphics horsepower, but to each his/her own.

just my 2 cents, if I was playing FPS's (which I dont, dont have the response time in the brain anymore, I aint young), I would either do a single large monitor (wide screen) to get the FOV, or go 3 monitors.. 2 monitors isn't gonna do it for most people because of the space inbetween them. no matter how much you try to make it small, there will still be some space there.
Supreme commander and a few other games will render on multiple graphics cards.
If you run windowed mode, you shouldn't have any issues with as many monitors / video cards as windows can handle (ala Flight sim 20monitor setup / Quake 3 30 monitor setup)
