I recently bought a new widescreen 1280x720p LCD projection television. I have connected my computer to the television with a DVI-HDMI cable. The picture looks great but for some reason the only resolution that looks good on the television is 1176x664. When I set the output to 1280x720 the image seems to be zoomed in. There is no option in the television to help with the scaling. Also when I use the nvidia control panel to resize the desktop to a size that fits, it just changes the resolution. I have all the latest drivers. Here are my specs.

AMD Athlon X2 4600+
Gigabyte GAM57SLI-S4
2GB Corsair XMS2
(2) BFG 7800GT
200Gb HD

**This wouldn't be a problem but MS Flight Simulator X requires at least 720**

Thank you

I have the same problem. Everything runs "zoomed in" so that the outer border of the entire screen is cut off. Although I wouldn't mind being able to run at full 720p for sharper picture I don't require it for anything.

Hook it up to VGA or DVI-D (if available). That's an obvious suggestion, but worth making.

There is no VGA or DVI input on the tv. Only HDMI and component. Component has a bad syncing proble so that route is not worth trying.

I have found that I have a overscan problem. I would like to know if there is a way to adjust the size of the screen like you can on a crt monitor. My television does not have any options like that.

It is possible/probable the TV does not auto adjust and center the input coming from the computer. Remember before autoadjusting moniters you had to manually adjust like 7 little knobs to make sure the screen didnt hang over the viewable area or leave space on the edges? Try adjusting that from the nvidia control panel. I don't mean changing the resolution.

Another possibility is that the EDID information it not listing the TV as able to support that resolution. There may be a way to force it.

Look for any forced scaling options in the Nvidia control panel.

Lastly, it may sound stupid, but make sure the tv is actually capable of supporting 1280x720, i have seen some HD tvs out there with funky resolutions. Remember, any resolution over 480 can technically be callled "HD"

Ah yes I forgot one thing that is probably the cause, Widescreen TVs almost always default to a zoomed in picture. Look at the remote for a way to change the aspect of the screen. Options are usually 'normal' 'Wide' 'Zoom' 'Panoramic' etc. I'd be willing to put money yours is on 'Zoom'.

The tv is 1280x720p and I have it on 16:9 standard not zoom. In the nvidia control panel the only thing that would seem like scaling is an option to resize the desktop and if I set the resolution to 1080x720 and then resize the desktop it just changes the resolution to 1176x664. Any other reesolution besides thos two just look funky. Thanks
