well its doing pretty well right now, but i no i can get better cards for a decent price. so i was wondering what the best card for me to get is. i dont have vista so of course DX10 doesnt matter to me, and i don't intend to overclock so im already guessing a radeon card will be better. also i cant crossfire/sli as i only have one pci-e slot.
any suggestions will be appreciated, also im aiming towards an x1950xt unless theres something better to get

I have a X1950XT and at the current $200, it is not really worth the money. Also, although better than your card it's not a huge boost. If you happened upon a cheap used one, sure it's a decent upgrade. But new, Your best bet is the 8800GT or HD38xx cards soon coming out. They are DX10, but more importantantly will offer a substantial performance improvement over your current card. And they are expected to be priced not much above the current X1950XT. (+$50)

ohh the 8800GT seems decently priced and its even 1 slot

well from the reviews its already a bit overclocked and it's better then my current video card, but i got mine for only 89.99 and its awesome, temps run a bit high pretty fast, but i dont play for too long anyway, havent even passed 50C on any game yet, but thnx for the suggestion

The 7900GS is a step down from you current card IMO. At best they are equal, with many newer games favoring your X1900 by a good margin. Wait and see as there should be more than one variaty coming out...more than one price. You may find a $180 card that blows away your card, uses less power, and is a feature set step forward.

The best performance-to-value is from any flavor X1950Pro. I prefer HIS cards, but ASUS makes some good cards, too. At $120, after rebate, nothing else comes close. Support straight from the source.

He already got a 1900GT which is a downclocked 1950 Pro. With a little work he can bring his current card to 1950 pro level without any cost. Buying a 1950 pro is hardly an upgrade.

IMO neither the 1950 pro or the 1950xt are enough better to justify an upgrade. You should wait for the new nVidia cards to come out. The 8800GT looks very nice.

yeah i guess i already have my mind set on the 8800gt or the HD38xx depending which is better/cheaper, also, will the GT or HD cards "agree" with my CPU? its AMD X2 64 4800+. im guessing they'll be okay, i just want to make sure
