I have a crappy ASUS M2npv-vm, and I've only been able to overclock from 2.2ghz to 2.27ghz stable, only able to change bus from 200 to 205 before it starts crashing. :fou: Anything higher than 213 won't even boot.
This is because the HTT on my mobo is stuck at 5x. Anyone know of a way I can adjust HTT multiplier so I can get more stable higher clocks? The chip I have-4200+ can run at 2.75 stable with stock volts, so all I need is for HTT multi to be able to be adjusted and then I'm fine.
Any modded BIOSes out there?
I don't really think I can use a Software based adjusting tool because they are too unstable, I tried Central BrainID to adjust it- and it worked (showed up in CPU-Z as 4x), but after a while my computer crashed. Also, I don't have a tool to adjust bus after I've changed HTT in Windows.

That sounds wrong... :heink:

I've got a similar question concerning the M2N-VM HDMI - best mATX board I could find outside the US... :pfff:

I'm used to the Russian Roulette you play with OC-able mATX boards, they're always missing at least one CRITICAL option for OCing. I thought a high(ish)-end Asus offering would get me by until I upgrade my case and get a proper ATX setup, which requires lots of teh moneyes  Better than the MSI I had before - AGP and only 16% max OC on FSB. Need I say more?! But now I can't find any way to drop my HT multiplier in the BIOS - irony is that the old MSI only went up to FSB*4, the Asus is STUCK on FSB*5!

Loser, it sounds like something else is wrong with your system. By comparison mine is just fine past 240MHz FSB, and we're talking VERY similar boards and CPUs here. My crappy 3600+ is stable at 2.3GHz, although this is pretty much the limit because of the HT - just stable at 1.2GHz  . I'm pushing higher but I've got a bad feeling the wheels are gonna fall off soon, the HT speed is now going into la-la land... :pt1cable: If ONLY I could drop it to *4!

The real pain is my memory - Team Elite DDR2-5300, rated at 4-4-4-12 over 667MHz although it defaults to 5-5-5-15 at those speeds without tweakery. I can run it stably over 750MHz at the CL5 timings, but with the HT now flying through its upper ceiling my CPU is maxing out in a "bad patch" . I'm stuck risking it at 800MHz+ or dropping it all the way below 600MHz, because the BIOS also lacks vDIMM control and has arse-all choice of CPU-RAM dividers - in theory I should be able to drop it to /6.5 or /7, instead I'm stuck with /6 (too high!) or /8 (too low! Even at CL4!). With my trusty Zalman CU7500 cooler I know I could push the CPU plenty higher without going over 1.35V (board max) which would give me meaningful DDR2 speeds even at the /8 divider, but I need to drop that cursed HT link first! :fou:

where are you?
You should be able to find abit & Biostar mATX mobos certainly in Europe & they'll overclock ...
