Is it worth me buying a new graphics card now for £140~£170 | ($287~$349) was looking at the HD2900PRO. Or would there be other models coming out around christmas time for around that price mark, competing with HD2900XT,8800GT,8800GTS etc?

Any advice is appreciated

NO ....... hold out for the new ATI .... around the same price ..... dx10.1 ..... will run alot cooler and not drain your power supply and they're bringing a DUAL GPU version one ! October release date .... :bounce: Anyone buying a dx10 for hundreds would be a fool !

Also, nothing is really super great about DX10.1

The way I understand that is that DX10.1 is backwards compatible and the developers will be developing for DX10.

At the very least wait 3 weeks. By that time, the new ATI and Nvidia cards will be out in that price range. Even if they are not what you are looking for, they should cause some drop in price for the older cards.

Nvidia 8800gt. ATI HD3870 and 3850 I believe. 8800gt is supposed to be out Oct 29. 3870 is supposed to be out Nov 19 (I think). Rumored benchmarks for the 8800gt are on this board, but take them with a grain of salt. By the end of Nov, benchmarks should be out for both cards from reputable sites.
