NEC DVD+RW ND-5100A cannot read DVD+R

My NEC DVD+RW ND-5100A cannot read a DVD+R nor a CD-RW on a DELL Inspiron 9100 laptop. These both can be read on my desktop. The NEC does play DVD movies OK and reads other CD's OK and records CD's OK. I have applied the DELL flash patch R94927 but still no success. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

I think problem will be in your laptop. But I am not sure about till I get complete details about your problem. So, Please post all the details about your laptop and desktop computer.
