I currently have 2gbs of Patriot Extreme 800mhz ram at 4-4-4-12 with 2.0v, i just ordered 2 more of what i thought was the same ram but it turned out to be 5-5-5-12 timings at 2.2v. Will these work together, and how will it effect overclocking?

edit: motherboard is ds3

I would leave the voltage alone, and try the new ram at the same timings as you now use. Use memtest, and see if you get any errors. If you have problems, bump up the voltage to 2.1 and try again.

This is pretty poor spec!
The memory voltage is 'supposed' to be 1.8v.
Typically 5-5-5-12 memory will do ~3-4-4-10 or whatever (tighter timings) at a higher voltage...
2.2v is very high 'performance' voltage that not every mobo will support...
Basically what I'm saying is, that RAM sounds like crap - since you can get basic, inexpensive Corsair that will do 4-4-4-12 @ 1.8v!

hmm seems i got it wrong, the ram i have now is 2.2v and the one im getting is 2.0v?

Yes - that makes more sense.
5-5-5-12 @ 2.0v and 4-4-4-12 @ 2.2v follows the pattern...
Memory like that is SPD'd to come up 5-5-5-15 @ 1.8v (fail-safe boot).
But with 2 volts or more it will run 4-4-4-12,
Since I run my E6420 CPU @ 300FSB with PC6400 memory @ 600DDR, I find I can get 3-4-4-10 @ 2.0v, no problem.
