Hi there :)

I'm searching information about the new Intel e2160 and e2180, versus other known processors (AMD x2).

I have some questions for you, THANKS in advance.

1) Without overcloking, an AMD x2 4800 is better, worse or equal to an Intel e2160.

2) (Typical question warning:) which is the max. Mhz I can hope for an e2180 which this motherboard in a normal scenario ?
Motherboard:
INTEL CORE2 ASUS P5K SE SK775 DDR2 PCX ( Chipset : Intel P35 Express / Intel ICH9) and Kingston DDRII 800Mhz memory.

3) Is enought this motherboard for a moderated OC (with success) or should I spent more money?

4) e2160 or e2180 for OC ?

I'm not sure about buying an AM2 X2 AMD processor or an Intel e2180. I'm not a gammer, "the only thing" I want a powerfull processor to slow down latency, use my Gentoo ;-) and play sometimes, I'm trying to get information about the best performance/cost of the processors AMD x2 and e2160 e 2180.

At this moment I have an AMD64 (939) 3200+ (no OC) with a good heatsink...

ola bitflow!

i don't know all the answers to your questions but i'll try my best to help (i had similar question as you before)

1) without oc, AMD X2 4800 is better generally. You can compare it yourself here: http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=915&model2=883&chart=419

2) depending on the configuration, >3GHz is achievable. See
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/Intel-Pentium-Dual-Core-E2140-overclocking,review-29816.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/09/12/pentium_dual_core/page2.html

3) i think Asus P5K is good enough for moderate oc. Personally i like Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R (slightly more expensive but it is DDR2 & DDR3 compatible). http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131173

4) i think E2160 and E2180 are fairly the same for oc....

As said earlier i had a similar question (between AMD X2 & Pentium E2xxx), but i'm now going for E2xxx ;)

Hope this helps :)
