Sound Card: HT Omega Claro Plus
Speakers: Logitech Z-5500

I have my Z-5500 connected to both my PC and XBox/TV via coaxial and optical respectively. The problem is that the TV is on one side of the room and the PC is directly on the other.

Seeing that I will use the 5.1 more for the TV/Xbox I have decided to put the FR FL and Center Speakers by the TV and have put the Rear Speakers (RR and RL) by my PC. What I want to do now is have my speakers play 5.1 while I'm playing XBox or watching TV (sound output through the Z-5500)...Then have my speakers play only through the Rear Speakers when I'm using the PC (sound output through the sound card). I'd figure there would be an option in the sound control panel to do this, but I've seen limited stuff.

Also, I have my PC connected to my TV...so whenever I want to watch movies I just output the video on my TV and when I turn around to watch it, I get the 5.1 with the right speakers in the right position. (instead of watching it on my PC where the sound would be backwards since I have the Rear Speakers in front of me)

Has anyone done this before?

Thanks

the closest i can think of that might work, given a few limitations that you have, are:

needing a soundcard that can output dolby digital live or dts interactive (you can get a cheap one for about $30 or so), since youre using a digital connection for your audio, which will only output 2 channel stereo pcm otherwise, to your front channels in particular.

using a sound card thats capable of ddl or dts interactive will allow you to adjust the settings and volume for each speaker, turning down the ones you dont want, rotating them around via software, or other similar changes.

the only other real option that comes to mind is to connect only the rear channels to your pc by way of an analog connection.

but beyond the 2 suggestions above, im not sure theres really another way to accomplish this, aside from moving the speakers around anytime you want to change the speaker focus.
