IS IT WISE TO USE 2GB RAM OR SHOULD I STICK WITH 1GB.

I am currently using an HP Pavilion a645c with the following specs:

ram: 1gb
vga: 256mb geforce 5500 fx
processor: 2.2ghz athon xp 3200+
os: vista ultimate

I want to upgrade my ram to 2gb. however, hp says the motherboard can support a maximum of 1gb ram. You can check it out http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c00183033&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN. I also checked with motherboard manaufacturers ie asus who says the motherboard can support 2gb.

More about wise stick
  1. I would save my money for a new computer.
  2. I think I agree with the other guy, save for a new machine. Look on tigerdirect.com, they have some refurbished computers that would thrash the machine you are using at the moment, and you should be able to upgrade them somewhat.
  3. If the system specs state a max of 1GB, then you can either:

    1) flash the BIOS and then attempt 2GB, or
    2) buy a new system with 2GB+ in it (recommended).

Option 2 is less problematic and safer.
  4. Forget about this PC and go for another one
