Gatewaysolo needs more memory

i am looking for a memory upgrade i cant aforde a new laptop and this one has less then 4g left with just OS and that is it. Thanks for any help..

4GB is more than enough memory to run XP. It only recognizes 3 GB anyway.

Tell us the model #, current HD size, how much more you need, whether you have all the Win SP's, any other relevant info.

Have you thoroughly cleaned out junk when you saw space was running low? Ran CCleaner, throw out data you no longer need, uninstall useless programs, defrag, etc?

yes the only thing on it is XP and as soon as the updates are downloading it wont do the last one and then that is it

You didn't answer all my questions. Please number your answers. We need some basic info to help you:

1--You have only XP with NO PROGRAMS and NO DATA?
XP Home or Pro?

2---Make & Model # of comp?
3-- and mobo
4-Current HD size (we need to see if the mobo can take more)
4--How much more space you think you need
6--You have none of the SP's 1,2,3?
6--Did you Run CCleaner? (free download)
6--Did you throw out old data useless data?
9--uninstalled useless programs
10--Defrag
One more:#11---Run TFC (Temp File Cleaner-free download)

12--What is the "last thing"you say updates won't do? Install? Or do you mean the last update didn't install?

13--Get back to me after you go through my list, and tell me how much HD space is left now.
