Microphone randomly stopped working

Hello, Recently my microphone on my headset decided to stop working. Have tried just about everything i could think of to fix it. First off its not the mic because i can get the microphone to work in the front jacks but then i have no sound and vice versa in the back jacks. It's not the jacks because other headsets work on them. Went out and bought a Rocketfish 5.1 EAX soundcard in hope of it fixing it but no luck. Using windows vista 64 bit with a Asus P7P55D LE motherboard. Also made sure that all drivers are up to date, im literally stumped on this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update, still no luck on getting my mic to work. Noticed something that was kind of odd recently though. I had music playing and anytime i hit my push to talk key the music would go through as if i was talking. Once again any help would be appreciated.
