Hello all, this will be my new build and I really could use some help on making the right decisions on components. I value everyone's feedback. Long time browser first time poster here so much valuable information here I figure I would come to you all and see what you all think. Thanks again

E GAD! doing this from work was a bad idea.

That page requires login, I can't see a thing.

Second, it's much better if you paste the list here instead of adding a link like that, because you'll get feedback and you'll update the page and people reading the thread after that will get lost trying to figure out why we're talking about things that don't appear on your list. Trust me, been there done that yesterday and it was tough :)

   Other than the fact that we have no clue what you picked, it looks good, sure !!! Well, at least we now know you like newegg, that's a good start.

Whoa... Fantastic but overpriced. 25% faster than my PC and twice as expensive.

I like the case, cooler, fan and DVD burner. Not so much the RAM/CPU/PSU.

$555 for 2 GB of RAM. I got 4 GB for $229, and it's pretty good too (OCZ DDR2-800). Are you sure you want DDR3? I think it's worth paying 10% more, maybe 40%, but not 300%.

The QX6850 - the same problem: pay 4 times more than for a Q6600, get a few percentage points of additional speed. Theoretically, you'd get 25% more speed (3 GHz vs 2.4 GHz). Maybe more, if you overclock a lot. In fact, you'll get less than 25% difference because even a Raptor acts as a bottleneck sometimes.

The $380 PSU is overkill. $180 buys you a PC Power & Cooling Silencer Crossfire which is top quality and supports two high-end cards.

I would get a GA-X38-DQ6, 4 GB of DDR2-1066, the Silencer PSU, and a Q6600.

You'd end up saving about $1000, and with 4 GB instead of 2 GB.

BTW, I got nothing against the Asus Maximus, but it requires DDR3.

Wow, a bit over the edge. Haven't seen anything on reviews of the new x38 or ddr3 performance, or if there's issues with them or not. As a few suggested, a less then $200 active power supply would be just as good. E6750 cpu as well. Games are useless with quads for now.
4gb of memory should be minimum now a days.
With the x38 you will be stuck with ATI video card (for dual). Geforce will be the leader for quite a while for now. If using a high resolution monitor, i would suggest 2 video cards (crossfire). And you could get 2 harddrives for the same price, raid them and be faster and alot larger.
