Well I just got myself AMD overdrive.

.... o by the way, I am a n00b at overklocking, so if I say something stupid or.. yeah you get the picture

...Amd overdrive, and started of by going to Advanced user. I then increased the multiplier from 12.5x to 13.0x so that I get a core speed of ~2400Mhz. Boom crash. So here is the question, does this mean I can't get the cpu over 2400Mhz? What about the reported 2.6-3.0 on stock cooling stuff that was reported? Was there something I did wrong? I know I should have increased in smaller steps.... patience.

Anyhow do I have to change something else to be able to get up to and over 2400?

I tried reading I guide, but they are all so specific. Overclock a P4.. overclock a A64..

Any tips?

Hey Arnagath,

It would be useful to know a little about the specs of your machine (mobo, ram, cooling solution etc) in order to better help. My immedeate thoughts are that you would be better to overclock through the bios menus rather than with overdrive, although I have read that this is quite a good tool.

Also as the Phenom is pretty new there isn't a great deal of specific info out there just yet, this article may be of some use http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=501.

Good luck with it m8.

Currently, the Phenom isn't the greatest overclocker. However, 2.6Ghz should be doable.

I do not have any experience with AMD overdrive. I prefer to change the settings in the bios.

Increase the cpu multiplier to 13x and raise voltage slightly. Stress test using Prime95 for at least 6 hours.

It's as much as needed really... If it's unstable put some more volts into it.
