Since you seem to have some resorces (aka cash) I'd suggest you get an aftermarket cooler for your cpu like a tuniq tower 120 (I'm no expert here so seek further advice) and for the card as well.
Other than that everything looks fine to me, you shouldn't have any problem putting it together.
Consider a Q6600 and overclocking too, you can always overclock, but you can't add more cores, and I belive they cost about the same.
Q6600 ~ e6850 in price worth it though
8800GT will be a good wait
PSU maybe a little overkill decent 500-600W would be enough (Corsair, Antec, PCPC)
Better Gb/$ can be had with 400-500gb hdd's
not bad for just £73.99 +VAT, and for the hdd Samsung SpinPoint T 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD501LJ)
at just £54.99 +VAT,
all on the same site and all on offer Tuniq Tower 120-LFB CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
at just £22.99 +VAT.
How long are you planning of keeping your system? If you are to upgrade or get a new system soon enough, go for what you got. Else, go for the quad core suggested above. The multithread software will follow soon enough. And, from what the article on Tom's suggested, memory speed is not that important on your setup, so you might benefit more from a 4 GB "slower" memory in still dual channel than the 2 GB you are planning. Even if you will not be able to use all of the 4 GB just yet (32 bit OS limitations AND what would you do with that much memory).
I'm building it for a friend basically, and that's basically the limit of his budget. The quad is about a hundred bucks more than the e6750...which is more than he can pay. How much is the 8800 GT going to be? Anyone know? and it's going to be released by the end of this month?
