I have a pair of 7900GTX cards if I upgrade to Vista how will they preform with Direct X 10?

anything below the 8000 series and 2900 series is 10dx anything below that is dx9. i just got a 1950Pro and i am using vista unlimate x64 and it runs good looks good

Thanks, what I should have said is will I still get the same video quality without having a dx 10 video card. I don't know if there is a differance in the hardware or if dx 10 cards just process information faster.

no... only the nV's 8xxx and AMD's 3xxx and 2xxx series cards utilize dx 10. Like mentions above, anything below this is dx9. Additionally you need the 8 series, 3 and 2 series to run in vista.

no. this is false.
partially..... and misleading.
you do not need a dx10 card to A. use vista , or B. play games in vista.
you just need a dx10 card, to utilize dx10.
so essentially, you will still be playing games with that card, you just wont be able to access the same special effects that are available in dx10.

You can run vista with a dx 6, 7, or 8 card if you wanted to. You need a DX9 card if you want to turn on Areo. If you don't want areo's effects, then you can leave it off and use just about any video card thats out there. (the biggest problem is finding a driver for vista.)
