Computer freezes at splash screen!

Hey everyone,

Ok, I could use a little help. For about the last month, everytime I restart my computer it freezes at the mobo flash screen. The only way I can seem to get past it is by unplugging my computer and turning it back on...even then it doesn't work everytime. Does anyone have an idea of what might be the cause?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
MSI P6N SLI Platinum
Ultra X-Finity 600-watt PSU
EVGA 8800GTS Superclocked 320
2 GB Ram
Windows Vista (yea, i know...why?!)

Reset the BIOS to defaults. The Ultra PSU is only tier-4, but shouldn't be the issue here, especially since the machine does make it up eventually.
Another potential cause could be drivers loading for non-existent devices or connections. Make sure they are in fact disabled in Device Manager too.
