Which memory to buy?

I am going to be moving to Vista 64bit and 4GB of RAM.

I was liking the Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

I just dont know which memory to get giving the fact that I OC my CPU.

Price is somewhat a concern, but those 2 give you a ball park of what I am willing to spend. LESS is always better.

I would use crucial's memory configurator and see if your first selection is recommended for your motherboard. It only takes a minute.

I'm not sure how mail-in rebates work, as we don't have them here in the UK, but this:

after rebate is $50 which is an absolute steal, it really is great memory and will overclock a looooong way. The PC8500 stuff for $100 is better, but at double the price is not worth the extra.

Thats the one I have in the link in my post.

Rebate is only for one set. So one set for $50 and the next set is full price at 89, unless I get a friend to buy it for me.

I am also leaning towards 2x2GB to keep my slots free. Not sure its a big deal...

As a cheap man I always check prices as well as rebate patterns regularly. And usually for rebates such as these they will repost the same rebate once the previous period has ended. What I would do is get one pair, wait for the first rebate period to end, then usually the day after they will repost the same rebate with a new period. This is exactly what I did for my Patriot Extreme Performance 6400 4-4-4-12 2.2V memory. I have yet to test it since every single 8800GT has been snagged off the face of the earth.(I ordered it on 10/29 too, even when I did, it said it was on backorder) I know im not getting it this week even if it does miracously ships since I picked standard shipping. That makes 2 weeks of waiting so far.

Well, I found some one local selling the exact same memory for $65. So I will pick up that set and order a set from new egg, making 4gb of Ballistix after rebates $115. Its the same exact model numbers and the seller says its new. Its a college student selling the memory for book money..

LoL totally sweet deal for you, feel sorry for the 'book' kid. Mostly because $65 might get you one used book in college.

Its sad, yesterday I was browsing in best buy with my girlfriend and we wondered over to see if they had the samsung 226bw and I came across the video card section. There was a BFG 8800GT CO 512 for 279$ and it was the only 8800GT on the self. I panicked and held it to double check and sure enough it was the real deal. Girlfriend wouldn't let me buy it though. It was a sad sad day indeed.
