I know that the new ATI HD series for the desktops have the capability of streaming the audio out the HDMI connection, is this the same for the laptop / mobility series (i.e.: Mobility HD 2600)?

Can someone please confirm or deny this, thanks!

Looks like I found the answer on the website ( I didn't see it at first: http://ati.amd.com/products/mobili [...] specs.html ):

HDMI output support:

  • Supports display resolutions up to 1920x1080
  • Integrated HD audio controller with multi-channel (5.1) AC3 support, enabling a plug-and-play cable-less audio solution
  • HDCP encoder with on-chip key storage for high resolution playback of protected content1

It says it supports AC3 out, but here's a quote from my HDTV user's manual:

Quote :

Compatible sampling frequency of AUDIO signal through HDMI (L.PCM) : 48 kHz / 44.1 kHz / 32 kHz

So does that mean it will not work? If it won't, is there a splitter that can separate the hdmi video and ac3 audio so I can plug the audio cable into my surround sound reaceiver and the hdmi into the HDTV for the video?
