"Nichia Develops 10,000,000 cd/m2 White Light Source Using
Semiconductor Laser"
-----------------------------------------------------------

Wow! I suppose you could use 3 of them for a 3 chip LCD projector.
I do not know the meaning of the numbers. What do you think they would
mean in terms of potential projector output? If you used 3 of them in a
Sanyo PLV-80, which is supposed to have 3000 lumens, what would the
light output be? Could you match the old Sanyo lamp with these units?

Finally, after years of little progress I see light at the end of the
tunnel. That light may be a gorilla holding a diode laser.
