hd won't power up

Someone gave me a 250gb sata drive they ripped out of a tivo or something, so I figured I may as well use it. It may very well just be dead, but is there any other reason it won't spin up, and my bios can't recognize it?

Your connector or power cable is dead. Do they work on another drive in your system? did the drive work on the Tivo before they ripped it out?

It has both sata and molex power connectors, and I tried swapping sata cables and ports. I was just hoping someone might have a longshot solution.
