Hi.
I got a little problem with OC my q6600...thing is, it wont go past 2.7-2.8gHZ (MOBO: asus p5n32-e SLI plus)...if i set my CPU utilization to 333 then it just resets my clock back to default. I would like to get it to like 3ghz or so..i'w tried clocking inside windows with Ai Booster and i'w also tried from BIOS with FSB....If i set my FSB to 1333 (1066 @ 2.4ghz) and save and exit, it just wont boot up...just stays black screen...need to restart PC after that. What could be the problem?: /

Oh ye....my temps @ 2.4 r like 30C (cooler: zalman 9700)

Does the mobo have 1333 MHz FSB Support?

Did you set the RAM in 1:1?

Are you going in increments or just jumping from 300 to 333?

At what point does it just stop working and not post?

I've got the same problem. I left the RAM unlinked so I could over clock seperately, But I only got to 2.7ghz. Im sure the striker extreme can do 1333fsb.

That is another issue all together..

The 680i doesn't play well with the Q6600. Some of them are ok, some of them hate it and you will have a ton of issues overclocking it. The 780i resolved some of those issues... however you will have to play with a ton of settings to get that thing to work right.

But I should be able to get it to 3ghz, I just have to get the settings right? because I've seen people overclock q6600 well with strikers and other 680i boards.

Yea it's just hit or miss with those boards.

Keep fiddling with settings and you might find something.

I've been looking around on other sites and some people where saying that it mite be the bios version. I've got 1305, do I need to update?

Reply to _aurora_

Ive been told that the only reason to update a bios is when u face a problem . since u facing some , i guess u should check out if there is some new version available for your mobo , if yes , it maybe worth a try.

and if it didnt help at all , just flash it back ...

well thats what u would do ! but like my profile say , im just a newbie !!!

:D
