i'm most definitely waiting for this version for either evga or xfx.

I just wish that SSC had a dual slot cooler. I'm concerned with just how loud these suckers can get and would like to see a bunch of retail cards compared. I've seen the MSI being super loud in one review, and another card not bad in another review. They look to all have the refernece cooler though.

Prices from £171-£182 ($342-$364) That does include VAT but that's insanely expensive compared to the US prices even considering that.

Ebuyer are cheaper but still a bit more than I was hoping

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134393 - Inno3d £155

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134731 - Zotac £160

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134966 - MSI - £161

Check the zotec AMP on there, £10 more for the most over clocked card available, nice card too!

Its clocked as high as the highest EVGA one btw.

You guys should try the Sparkle 8800gt passive cooled addition. Sparkle cards are usually high quailty and OCed well.
It looks really nice.
This one is not OCed though.

All the benchmarks I've seen are whooping on the 8800GTS so for ~$250 I'd say thats a pretty damn good deal.

supply and demand. These things are selling like hotcakes to all the people with 7900s and 1950s who've been holding out for a cheap midrange card (not that the performance of these could fairly be called midrange)

With the current price gouging going on, I will stick with my 7800gtx. No way I pay above msrp for a video card. I know it is basic economics of supply vs demand. I will wait for the initial frenzy to cool down.

Reply to paesan

yeah it's worth waiting, especially with the 38XX series due to be formally revealed any day now and in the shops in 2 weeks

Reply to abigsmurf

If you want, you could create a list by country.
Also, you could modify your initial list so no need to read the whole thread to find them! Good job! :) I will be looking this christmas to replace my older ATI AIW X1900.

Whats rebate? like VAT?

Reply to NismoXT

rebate is where you can get money back by filling out a special form and mailing it back to the company. It takes a while but you basically get money back.

Sometimes you put a wrong letter in the reply in the wrong spot and they don't give you your $ back, but 99% of the time if you fill out the paperwork 100% correct you'll get your $ back within 8-10 weeks or so :(

Always a good plan. Also by waiting you'll be able to find out from the early adopters if there are any "warts" in the drivers or hardware for different combinations of games you might be interested in.
Im really not at all unhappy with 7900GS performance on 1680x1050 widescreen that I need to jump in right away.

This sucks, I sat around all day trying to find this thing when it was released and by the time I found it on sites..... sold out. Now i wait who knows how long for the eVGA 8800GT SSC to restock and start selling (hopefully not missing the sell out again)
