Flat-panel TVs, either liquid crystal display (LCD) or plasma display
panels (PDPs), have more compact electronics, a wider range of screen
sizes and higher resolution than traditional TVs, which use cathode ray
tube (CRT) devices to display images.

And a 600dpi laser printer has better looking output than a 2400dpi inkjet.

It's not all about resolution. CRT is still the best out there. Just not the
cheapest or easiest when you want a BIG screen.
