Got a pentium d 915 2.8ghz on mrs600m acer aspire mobo, bios allows only one jump up to 266mhz (cpu z tells me im currently on 200mhz with a 12x multiplyer) anyone know if this is possible before i torch my chip? or is it a multiply alteration thats needed? any voltages increases?

Looked through the forums and all the PD 915 threads seem to have been "removed" when you try to go into them.

Thanks in advance

I don't see why not. 12x266MHz should give you 3.2GHz. You may need to increase the voltage, but I would suspect it wouldn't be a lot.

Use Prime95 to stress test both the ram and cpu to check for stability.

yeah thats what i figured but it appears my bios doesnt let me change the voltage so was gonna see if anyone else had done this without needing to up the voltage before i do it. dont wanna get into a position were the comp wont even boot up due to lack of voltage and i cant get into the bios to change it back.

dont think my board is designed for OC (dam acer) but since the option is there to put the mhz up thought id investigate

checked my system with cpu z and prime before to check temps, and the spec on processorfinder. got a bit of temp tolreance to use up

The maximum stable OC I can do with the stock cooler is 3.68GHz on 1.4625v and FSB +0
3v. Whenever I go pass it, it would either not boot or reset to 2.8GHz. But I don't think it is overheating.
