The 8800GT's look great. I personally don't like the 1 slot coolers and have heard the 8800GTS's are going to be refreshed with G92. Is this true and when will these be hitting the market? I currently have a x1900XTX and might upgrade since some of the newer games have issues running at higher settings.

Many sites are reporting that with extra pipes. I have an X1900XTX too and have just bought a Zotac 8800GT from Novatech. There is a real difference in performance and the look of games using the 8800GT. The Crysis demo looks excellent at 1680x1050 all on high.

You can add a different cooler - there's lots of advice about. Likely manufacturers will fall over themselves to supply new ones. However, I think if you have a cool enough case, there is no need. The cooler supplied is okay and if sped up, does a good job. MIne was set at 29%. I uped it to 60% and get 720/1720/2000. It is basically noiseless. My 1900XTX was okay for noise too. The air temps in the UK are quite mild but hot climates might require extra cooling.

If I need more speed, I'll add another later. Maybe the price will then have dropped.

^Isn't Novatech in the UK?

I have been looking for a Zotac or Palit 8800 GT, but it seems state side we only get; gigabyte, xfx, evga, bfg, msi.

Currently I've got a 8800gtx and I was wondering - with that good performance on a gt, I'd be intrigued if they'ed like make a 8800 TI version or something, that is a gtx version of the gt or so ... so that I have something to upgrade to (the ultra is a poor choice for an upgrade, and amd doesn't have anything to offer atm) ... is anything planned? Does anyone know? Would be really cool with a 65nm based top card, or perhaps one with 4 gt chips on one dual slot card - if they can somehow fit 4x 75W power connectors onto it ...

yes i am interested in the release of the faster than 8800GTX NVIDIA GPU also..

i have a ASUS HD2600XT card temporarily...

i am waiting for the HD3800 DX10.1 PCIe2.0 or the new 9XXX GTX? NVIDIA to come out

I have heard a couple dates for the 8800GTS ranging from late Nov to early December.

Supposedly the same G92 with more shader processors and a duel slot cooler. If they increase the memory bandwidth to boot, it could be a GTX killer. If they dont, my guess is that they will be releaing a G92 with a larger memory pipe that will be the new GTX.

hmm not completely "new" tech but its "faster" than the current 8800GTX possibly..

i will wait for ATI and NVIDIA to release each others GPU's and look at review benchies before making a purchase :D

thanks for the reply

Well faster is all it takes. The tech in the current hardware isn't what I'd call flawed, so more punch is all it'd take for me to regard it as a better card. Running crysis on very high @ constant 60fps with vsync would be ideal - it doesn't take more features to do that, all it takes is a lot more power.
