Sony Vaio, using netgear wireles router connection. Cannot connect browser. Computer says it is connected with excellent strength...browser says cannot connect to webpage. It worked once before, but not now. I have tried turning off modem, router for 3 minuttes then on again...disconnected wireless connection and reconnected it. Still no luck.
Other laptop (compact) in house works fine.
Netgears warrenty is up and they wont help without a fee.
Money is tight...Is there any free solution out there?

Is wireless working at all on the problem computer? Have you checked the little switch on the side of the Vaio? Have you checked in Device Manager ?

If it is present and correct can Windows or the wireless adapter's own user interface detect any wireless networks ?

If it can, the issue is probably wireless security.

Using an ethernet cable to link computer and router, address the router's user interface via Internet Explorer (see router manual for how) and temporarily disable wireless security.

Disconnect the ethernet cable. If the computer can then connect by wireless, reset security and apply the new password to the computer
