What is the lifespan of an AMD 5000+BE vs. an Intel E2160? Are other parts effected as well?

Lifespan is dependent on many a factor. Daily usage, workload, surrounding components (namely the PSU and cooling)

There's nothing to indicate why one chip would last longer than the other unless you were trying to kill a CPU.

IMO, if you leave both of them on stock speeds, the E2160 will last longer. Why? Because it runs cooler.

By how much though? Unless your breaking threshold temps... the difference in lifespan between a CPU @ 35C and 40C would be nada...

Reply to raven_87

True, but if it was more like 55C vs. 60C, the life would be around 1 year longer.

How do you figure? 60C isnt anywhere near panic even for CPU's carrying in house memory controllers.

So by your logic the hotter the shorter?
What about CPU's under a phase 3? or maybe under Nitrogen?
Would they last just as long or longer than a CPU @ room temp?

Other people on these forums :D

I trust them, they are people with much experience.

Nice! Voodoo's the first one to come up with "SLI" if I'm not mistaken.

*Looks fondly at 16MB Voodoo vidcard*

yes, the 3dfx days are gone. and yes they did come up with "SLI"
however it was scan-line interweave, please do not confuse the two. simply brings up bad feelings.

anywho...so uhh, I'd say we've derailed this thread successfully.
