Im thinking about putting more ram in my computer but i have a few questions i hope someone can anwser for me.. Right now i got a c19- a sli mother board with 2 sticks of DDR2-667 corsair 512 MB pc2-5300 RAM installed.

I was wondering that since i have those already in there, what do i have to look for when upgrading? My motherboard supports 4 slots that supports 4 GB each for a total cap of 16 GB.

So can i get 2 sticks of 1 gig to finish it off or must i put in 2 512s again? And must i put in ddr2-667 corsairs again to make it compatible? thanks!

If you plan on keeping the 2 Corsairs then it would probably be best if you buy the same spec Corsairs to add on. I don't know if the size in MB has to be the same.

The memory size or speed does not have to be the same in the other channel. Could even be a different vendor or speed, but the memory will work at the slowest rating of all the chips.

I think the most wise option would be to make a total of 2 gb with 4x512mb modules the same speed and type of course.

- will be faster then having 2x1gb
- no real need for anymore then 2gb at the moment
